Borussia Dortmund fans may see it as all his chickens coming home to roost, but Mario Gotze's early Bayern Munich career has not lived up expectations.
Having left boyhood club Dortmund for biggest tital rivals Bayern Munich for a €37 million last summer, the 21-year-old has now voiced his concern at his lack of playing time under Pep Guardiola.
Gotze told Bild that: "Of course I am not happy with my current situation. But I will continue to give my all. I hope that I will regain the coach's confidence and feature from the start again."
The German tabloid has alleged that Guardiola and Gotze have a difficult relationship.
He has made just over a dozen Bundesliga starts this season, scoring eight and assisting a further eight.
Sport Witness have suggested that Man United's interest in the player could be reinvigorated by any signs that he is unsettled.
The Reds have been linked with fellow Germany internationals Marco Reus and Toni Kroos over the past few months, although both deals seem unlikely.
