Former Manchester United captain Bryan Robson does not think that Ryan Giggs will get the United job full-time.

The ex-Middlesbrough and West Brom boss told Sky Sports that it would be a "big ask" at this stage of the newly-installed caretaker manager's career.

"I definitely think Ryan is going to be a manager, but whether he gets it full-time at a club like Manchester United is a big ask," said Robson, who played alongside Giggs until 1994.

Robson also felt that the current squad was good enough to challenge and that David Moyes could have extracted more from them.

"You look at the squad and you've got to say that it was pretty good. They won the league by 11 points. The year before that they only got beaten on the last day of the season on goal difference."

Louis Van Gaal is the favourite to takeover from Moyes on a permanent basis following the Scots sacking by Manchester United this morning, while Jurgen Klopp has ruled himself out.
