George North has returned to Northampton's starting line-up for the first time since December 3rd after undergoing treatment for concussion issues.

The Welsh winger appeared to be knocked-out when he landed from height in a match against Leicester last month but was allowed to return to the field after being treated by the medical team.

The massive winger has a history of concussive injuries and missed a large part of the 2015 season after sustaining a number of head blows during that season.

Northampton came under fire for their actions and North was sent for an independent assessment.

He has since followed all protocols required and is due to start for the Saints when they take on Gloucester later today at Kingsholm.

The two sides are level on 24 points and both will be desperate to win to kick-start the new year.

North's return will also be a boost to Wales' coach Rob Howley with the start of the 6 Nations approaching next month.

Wales head to Italy on the opening weekend of the tournament before welcoming England to Cardiff the following weekend.

They then travel to Scotland before Ireland arrive in the Welsh captial. They finish the tournament in Paris on the final day of the competition.
