Warren Gatland has said he is not worried by Brian O’Driscoll’s back injury, and full expects the Ireland cntre to be back playing soon. O' Driscoll didn't travel to London to meet up with the rest of the 2013 Lions squad today, as the squad gathered together for the first time. He had suffered a back spasm in Leinster's Pro 12 win over Glasgow at the weekend and chose to stay at home due to the injury.

Gatland says the centre is hoping to be fit for Leinster's Amlin Challenge Cup final against Stade Francais on Friday and the back injury is something of a routine ailment for the Leinster man:

“It’s something that he’s had come once a year at some stage and normally just an epidural to relieve the pain and stay off his feet.

“He’s hoping to be right for this Friday, for the Amlin finals,” he said.

Gatland also told players not to be looking beyond their upcoming club games, or going into games with the worry of injury over their heads, as the kick-off of the Lions Tour approaches.

“If you go in with that attitude, in terms of thinking about the next day or the next couple of days and trying to look after yourself that’s when you’re more likely to pick up an injury.”

“The advice for those players is just go hell for leather,” Gatland said.
