The GAA marked the 95th anniversary of Bloody Sunday at a special ceremony in Croke Park this evening.

14 flames were lit on Hill 16 in honour of the people who lost their lives in 1920.

In retaliation for the assassination of 14 members of the so-called Cairo Gang of British intelligence agents earlier that day, RIC and Auxilliary soldiers opened fire on the crowd at Croke Park, killing 14 and injuring dozens.

One of those who died was Tipperary footballer Michael Hogan. A laurel wreath was laid at the spot where be perished, opposite gate 41.

As a mark of respect the flames will remain lit for the duration of the EirGrid International Rules test between Ireland and Australia tonight.
