The future of the RaboDirect Pro 12 is now under the microscope as the uncertainty surrounding European club rugby continues to grow.
Italian side Benetton Treviso have announced their intention to withdraw from the Pro 12 at the end of the season, citing an absence of certainty about the future format of the tournament.
Pro 12 organisers have been left waiting on the sidelines for a resolution to the row over the future of the Heineken Cup, which is also threatening the existence of the Welsh regions.
The uncertainty over the Pro 12 has now forced Treviso to look elsewhere.
The Italian Rugby Federation has recently announced plans to launch an eight team standalone Italian league featuring both Treviso and Zebre.
