A Fox News reporter was caught live on air today calling Rory McIlroy a "leprechaun".

The World No 1 was in the news today after suffering ankle ligament damage in a football match which may affect his Open championship defence. 

Fox were covering the segment when a reporter, who was off camera, was heard making the remark, adding that she "can't stand him".  

One of the other Fox presenters, Harris Faulkner, said she did not hear what was said at the time:
