Luke Fitzgerald has signed a two year extension to his Leinster contract, just hours after rumours circulated that he had signed with Munster. The contract will keep Fitzgerald at Leinster until 2015.

Fitzgerald’s contract was due to expire at the end of the summer and rumours of a move to Munster had gradually gathered pace, until reports today suggested he had signed a contract with Munster early this afternoon.

Leinster coach Joe Schmidt said, in a statement:"We are delighted that a player of Luke's ability has committed his future to the province. At just 25, his best years are ahead of him and hopefully he'll be back better than ever early next season."

Fitzgerald, who has been with the province for six years and collected three Heineken Cup winner medals in that time, said: "I'm delighted to commit my future here. It is hugely frustrating to miss the run-in to the campaign but I'm looking forward to beginning my rehab over the coming weeks and getting back in a blue shirt next season."
