Turkey’s Kenyan-born Yasemin Can claimed victory in a time of 31:12.86. Portugal's Felix Dulce produced a valiant effort to finish second while Karoline Bjerkeli Grovdal of Denmark picks up the bronze medal in third.

Meanwhile, there was positive news for Thomas Barr who won his 400m heat this evening in a time of 50.17 to progress to the semi-final tomorrow.

The same can't be said for Paul Byrne missed-out after he finished in fourth place in his heat. Ireland's other representative was Tomas Cotter who finished 12th in his 3,000m steeplechase heat.
