Fiona Doyle has finished second in her 200m breaststroke heat but misses out on a semi-final spot.
The Irish swimmer set a time of 2:29:76 in the opening heat but it was two seconds slower than her Irish record in the event, although she had led for the first 150 metres.
That meant she has failed to make it into the Top 16 and a resulting semi-final placing after finishing 25th overall in the preliminary heats.
Doyle's strongest event is the 100 metre breaststroke but missed out on a semi-final place.
2nd for @Fionamdoyle in Women's 200m Breaststroke Heats. 2:29.76 having led through to 150m. Gave it her all. pic.twitter.com/xQH6OukEzK
