Finn Harps have been promoted to the League of Ireland Premier Division after an extra-time winner helped them defeat Limerick in the second leg of the promotion/relegation playoff tonight.

After a 1-0 defeat in the first leg, BJ Banda completed the turnaround for the Donegal side with a goal three minutes before the end of extra-time to make it 2-0 on the night and 2-1 on aggregate.

Michael Funston's finish in the 38th minute of normal time had put Finn Harps level in the tie, but no more goals were forthcoming in normal time, before Banda's heroics in the extra-time period finally separated the sides and avoided the lottery of penalties.

Limerick, who had dramatically avoided automatic relegation from the top division on the final day of the regular season, drop down to the First Division.
