American TV station AMC has already postponed the inevitable 'end of Mad Men' by a whole year by splitting the final season in half.

Today, however, the station has finally confirmed when the adventures of Don Draper will begin drawing to a definitive close, following last year's 'half season'.

'Part II' of season seven will premiere on April 5th, with only seven episodes left before the popular show takes its final bow. The final episode is therefore to likely to air in May.

In a statement quoted by The Hollywood Reporter, Mad Men's creator Matthew Weiner says "what an incredible journey this has been. We sincerely thank the fans for joining us on this ride and hope it has meant as much to them as it has to us."

Mad Men was one of the first major hits for AMC, and has received critical acclaim and awards since its first season in 2007. It broadcasts on Sky Atlantic and RTE One in Ireland, with the Sky premiere likely to follow a few days after the US.
