The Fifty Shades of Grey adaptation encountered a significant hurdle last month when original star Charlie Hunnam dropped out, only a few weeks before filming was due to begin. Although the producers wasted little time in finding a replacement in the form of Northern Irish actor Jamie Dornan, the scheduled shooting date was only pushed back by a month until early December, with Universal continuing to aim for an August 2014 release date.

The Hollywood Reporter has revealed today that the film's extremely short production schedule has finally been deemed unfeasible. Universal has opted to delay the film by six months until February 13th in 2015. As you might have noticed, the new release date will see the film release just in time for the lucrative Valentine's Day market.

Fifty Shades of Grey is being directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson, with Dakota Johnson playing the female lead Anastasia Steele. Although most of the supporting roles have now been cast, The Hollywood Reporter also suggests that the role of Steele's best friend Kate has yet to be cast.
