FIFA have come up with a proposal which would allow doctors to stop a match for three minutes if it is thought a footballer might have concussion.

An assessment would be made on the pitch with the referee only accepting the doctor's final decision over whether a player can continue.

The plan will be put forward to FIFA's executive committee.

There have been calls for a strict procedure regarding head injuries, following a number of high profile incidents.
