Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has no regrets about not signing another defender in the transfer window - because there were none available.
Full-back Mathieu Debuchy will miss three months after having ankle surgery, while Nacho Monreal is also injured.
Wenger brought in Calum Chambers from Southampton but says he was short of other options.
"There wasn't a lot on the market. Everybody's looking for defenders. We were unlucky to lose Debuchy and Monreal at the same time. No matter how many players you buy, if you have bad luck you cannot three players in every position because you cannot manage them as well," said the Arsenal manager.
