Colin Farrell could be set for a major role in the hit HBO show True Detective. The Irish actor is in talks to star in season 2 of the show, according to Variety.
The show starred Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson in season 1, but the second season will star a new set of characters and actors. Reports claim Farrell will take the role of the older male lead, and his character will serve as the focus for the season.
The show ran for 8 episodes and garnered a huge following, along with rave critical reviews and a host of Emmy nominations – including nods for the show’s two lead actors.
True Detective attracted over 11 million viewers to each episode, making it the biggest debut hit for HBO since Six Feet Under, in 2001.
HBO have not yet commented on the casting of season 2.
