Liverpool midfielder Fabinho says top players like Mohamed Salah will always have their names linked to other clubs.

Earlier this season, Salah spoke in glowing terms about Real Madrid and Barcelona in an interview with Spanish publication AS and didn't rule out potentially playing for either of the La Liga giants.

The Egyptian also expressed he was "very disappointed" that he was not awarded the captaincy for their final Champions League group game against Midtjylland with Trent Alexander-Arnold given the skippers armband instead.

However, Fabinho is confident the Egyptian international is happy to stay at Anfield after playing a pivotal role in the Champions League and Premier League success under Jurgen Klopp.

Speaking ahead of Sunday's Premier League clash with Manchester United Fabinho told Sky Sports that reports linking Salah to a move away from Merseyside are common in football.

"Big players will always have their names involved in rumours," Fabinho said.

"Salah plays for Liverpool, one of the biggest teams in the world so I think it's normal to see his name linked to other teams, especially from different leagues.

"I see him very happy here and pleased with his performances this season.

"He's very demanding with himself, he wants to be the best, he wants to help the team and works hard for it.

"It's always been the case and it hasn't changed at all. He keeps scoring goals, which everyone is used to seeing. In the changing room he's always talking to everyone and making jokes.

"I don't see anything affecting him. Overall, I am not following the news so I'm not sure about any rumours. As I said, top quality players will always be linked to big clubs."

Manchester United's 1-0 win at Burnley on Tuesday night sent them top of the Premier League, three points clear of champions Liverpool going into Sunday's game at Anfield.
