Premier League duo Aston Villa and West Brom have both avoided humiliating early exits from the FA Cup after winning their third round replays tonight.

Irish international Ciaran Clark got the opening goal for Villa as they battled to a 2-0 win over League Two club Wycombe Wanderers at Villa Park.

Clark's header came 15 minutes from time, before Idrissa Gueye added a last minute second.

Meanwhile, Salomon Rondon's close-range finish helped West Brom to a narrow 1-0 win over their hosts, Bristol City.

Portsmouth beat Mick McCarthy's Ipswich 2-1, while the MK Dons were 3-0 winners over Northampton Town.

Reading came from 2-0 down to beat Huddersfield 5-2 and Bolton picked up a morale-boosting 3-2 win over non-league Eastleigh Town.

Carlisle United overcame their hosts Yeovil Town 5-4 on penalties after the pair finished deadlocked on 1-1.

Meanwhile, Bury also won their shootout against Bradford City 4-2 after neither side could manage a goal during 120 minutes of action.
