FIFA's decision to scrap an anti-racism initiative has been branded "shameful" by some critics.

The Taskforce Against Racism and Discrimination was set up in 2013 to develop strategies to tackle the issue.

FIFA general secretary Fatma Samoura, a former United Nations senior official from Senegal says it has now completed the "specific mandate".

But former FIFA vice-president Prince Ali says the decision is "extremely worrying."

"The fight against racism is far from over and the notion that the current Fifa leadership believes the ‘task force’s recommendations have been implemented’ is shameful," he said.

"Never has the need to combat racism and racial discrimination been more evident than it is in the world we live in today.

"It is not something that any governing body with any semblance of responsibility can downplay or deny."
