Darren Clarke's Europe are in pole position to claim the EurAsia Cup after another strong round saw them open up a six-point lead over their opponents.

The team won four of six foursome matches, with Offaly native Shane Lowry among the winners.

Ian Poulter helped claim the first point of the day as Europe moved 9-3 ahead of Asia, with just Sunday's singles left to come at the Glenmarie Golf & Country Club.

Among the others victorious were Lee Westwood and Matt Fitzpatrick, Bernd Wiesberger and Ross Fisher and Lowry and Andy Sullivan.

Soren Kjeldsen and Victor Dubuisson halved their match with Danny Chia and Nicholas Fung.

Poulter, alongside compatriot Danny Willett, enjoyed a comfortable 3&2 victory over Byeong-hun An and Thongchai Jaidee.

"It was good golf. We had all intentions to play smart, keep them under pressure" Poulter told the European Tour website.

"It's probably their strongest pairing. They played nicely yesterday I think they were probably nine-under par, and we've done our job.

"We hit good golf shots. We played the right side of pins. We made no mistakes, no bogeys, and we backed each other up at the right time."

Clara native Lowry and England's Sullivan earned a point for a second consecutive day, winning three of the final four holes to beat Shingo Katayama and Prayad Marksaeng 3&2.
