Michael Essien could leave Chelsea in the transfer window according to quotes attributed to his agent.

The Ghana midfielder spent last season on loan with Jose Mourinho at Real Madrid, but he has managed just three Premier League appearances this term.

Essien has not been included in any of Chelsea's Champions League squads for the group stages so the 31-year-old may be a target for teams who are still in that competition.
