Crystal Palace have pulled off a shock result with a 1-0 win over Chelsea at Selhurst Park. Jose Mourniho’s side were undone by a first half own goal from captain John Terry. The win is a major dent in Chelsea’s title hopes as it now means Liverpool can leapfrog Chelsea at the top of the table tomorrow afternoon, while Manchester City can go level on points with two games in hands if they can beat Arsenal in this evening’s game. The defeat is Chelsea’s second away loss in a row.
The other major drama of the afternoon was a 3-3 draw with a dramatic finish at the Hawthorns, between West Brom and Cardiff City.
Goals from Morgan Amalfitano and Graham Dorrans put West Brom 2-0 up, with Cardiff equalising through goals from Jordon Mutch and Steven Caulker.
Thievy then looked to have won the game for West Brom in injury time, before Mats Moeller Daehli grabbed a point for the away side very late in the game.
Swansea have beaten Norwich 3-0 at the Liberty Stadium through a Jonathan De Guzman brace and another goal from Wayne Routledge.
Southampton have thrashed Newcastle 4-0 at St Mary's, thanks to goals from English internationals Rickie Lambert, Adam Lallana and Jay Rodriguez, who scored twice.
And elsewhere, a Peter Odemwingie gave Stoke all three points in a 1-nil win over Hull City.
Earlier, Manchester United beat Aston Villa 4-1 at Old Trafford in the opening game of the day.
United had to come from behind to win the game, with Ashley Westwood giving Villa the lead from a free kick.
But a brace from Wayne Rooney and another two from Juan Mata and Javier Hernandez gave United all three points in a morale boosting 4-1 win before their Champions League Quarter Final tie against Bayern Munich next Tuesday.
The win came after some United fans paid for a banner to be flown from a plane over Old Trafford at the start of the game, calling for manager David Moyes to be sacked after a disappointing first season in charge.
The banner, which read "Wrong One- Moyes Out", was booed by many United fans inside the ground and only roused the home fans to give Moyes a warm ovation.
