Paul Dunne has expressed his satisfaction after eight birdies on Day 2 of the Joburg Open in South Africa.

The Wicklow man is five behind leader Ross McGowan after an 8-under par 63 left him on 9-under overall.

The Greystones golfer's happiness was clearly evident:

Michael Hoey and Kevin Phelan both ended one above the projected cutline on 3-under.

Ruadhri Mc Gee has failed to make the cut after finishing on 4 over.

Meanwhile on the PGA tour, Padraig Harrington is three off the lead on 4-under at the Sony Open in Hawaii.

Graeme Mc Dowell is level par.

At the Eurasia Cup in Malaysia, the Darren Clarke Captained Europe lead Asia four and a half to one and half with the pairing of Shane Lowry and Andy Sullivan winning their match.
