Cesc Fabregas scored twice in extra-time to send the Blues into the fourth round.
Shinzi Okazaki had scored twice for Leicester in the opening half but a goal from Gary Cahill and a spectacular strike from Cesar Azpilicueta put Chelsea on level terms.
Marcin Wasilewski was sent off on 89 minutes for Leicester.

Newcastle progressed with a 2-0 triumph over Wolves, Leeds edged out Blackburn 1-0 and and Reading got past Brighton by a 2-1 scoreline.
