Dundalk have extended their unbeaten start to the season and are now seven points clear at the top of the table after John Mountney's late goal gave them a 1-0 win over Derry City at Oriel Park.

Two penalties from Enda Curran helped Galway United to a 5-3 win over Bohemians at Eamon Deacy Park, with Bohs finishing with 10 men after one of their goalscorers, Dean Delaney was shown a late red.

Galway had led 3-2 after the first '45 thanks to goals from Jake Keegan, a Curran penalty and Padraic Cunningham, while Patrick Kavanagh and Dean Kelly's spot kick kept Bohs in touch.

Ryan Connolly and another Curran penalty made sure that the men from the west kept all three points.

In the late kick-off, Shamrock Rovers won out 3-2 against Longford Town at the Tallaght Stadium, with Maxime Blanchard scoring twice for the home side.

In the First Division, Roddy Collins made a winning start as Waterford United manager after a 3-1 win over Cabinteely at the RSC.

UCD upset Wexford Youths 4-1 in Belfield, while Shelbourne came away from Athlone Town with a 3-2 victory.
