League leaders Dundalk and Cork City remain neck and neck in the SSE Airtricity League Premier Division.

Dundalk beat bottom side Athlone Town 3 - 0 to remain top of the table on goal-difference - and with a game in hand. Patrick Hoban scored two second half goals with a third delivered by team-mate Richie Towell. Athlone had Brian Shortall sent off after an incident with Dundalk's Dean Massey.

Cork City also picked up a good win at UCD, earning a 4 - 0 result. Ross Gaynor, Billy Dennehy and Garry Buckley (2) got the goals for Cork to keep them level on points with Dundalk at the summit with two games to go.

The two results leave UCD just one point clear of Athlone in the basement battle.

St Pats tightened their grip on third place as Christy Fagan's 90th minute goal gave them a 3 - 2 victory at Drogheda United. Conan Byrne had opened the scoring for Pats on 9 minutes. Drogheda responded through Gavan Holohan and Peter McGlynn, before Pats won it thanks to a Daire Doyle OG and Fagan.

Goals from Shane Duggan and Rory Gaffney gave Limerick a 2 - 1 win at St Pats' FAI Cup final opponents Derry City.

Bohemians had Aidan Price sent off late on but drew 2 - 2 at home to Sligo Rovers. Dinny Corcoran and Stephen Beattie scored for Bohs with Sligo's efforts coming from Paul O'Conor and Eamon Zayed.

Shamrock Rovers edged Bray Wanderers with a goal from Sean O'Connor in the first half.
