How can the situation for the GAA club player be markedly improved?

It was the subject of last night's debate between GAA director general Paraic Duffy and our own Colm 'Wooly' Parkinson on Off The Ball and also something ex-Meath footballer Anthony Moyles shared his thoughts on with Oisin Langan today.

On tonight's Off The Ball, we were joined by Dublin County Board Chairman Sean Shanley and Waterford chairman Paddy Joe Ryan to share the perspective from both counties.

"We're certainly not happy," said Shanley, when Wooly asked him if he is satisfied with how things are going and if he would prefer a shorter inter-county season.

"There's too much inter-county games and I think Paraic Duffy's report that he has out now is very good and if it's accepted in whole it would ease things a hell of a lot. It would give us another two weeks at the end of the season, which is the most important time, and close the gap in the early season. It's ridiculous to be playing a Leinster football championship first round and then no game for five weeks or four weeks."
