Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola believes David Silva will be remembered as one of the greatest players in the history of the club.

The Spanish playmaker will make his final appearance for City against Norwich in the Premier League on Sunday ahead of leaving at the end of his contract.

"Extraordinary - the amount of games, the huge quality of the games he played, the titles," Guardiola said when asked about World Cup winner Silva today.

"He's another player, alongside six, seven, eight others that made the club what it is right now. Always I think this club will be grateful to him."

City midfielder Kevin de Bruyne needs one more assist on Sunday to become the first player since Thierry Henry to lay on 20 goals for his teammates.

"He enjoys making assists," Guardiola said of the Belgian international. "I would love for Kevin not to score millions of goals, but I think he enjoys more making an assist to his players."

"I think he speaks for himself what he gives to our team and the Premier League. It is not necessary to say how important Kevin is, what a fantastic player he is.

"At the same time congratulations to the captain of Liverpool for the (Football Writers') award. He's a really good player."
