UFC flyweight champion Demetrious "Mighty Mouse" Johnson is on the verge of history this weekend when he defends his title against Wilson Reis in Kansas City, Missouri.

The diminutive American is looking to equal middleweight legend Anderson Silva's record of ten consecutive title defences, set between 2007-2012.

Johnson remains the UFC's only flyweight champion since the promotion introduced the division in 2012. He has pretty much cleaned out the division twice over at this stage and holds wins over Joseph Benavidez (x2), John Dodson (x2) and Henry Cejudo.

He currently sits atop the official pound-for-pound rankings - one place above Conor McGregor. His last loss came against then bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz at 135lbs in 2011.

Reis enters the contest on the back of wins over Dustin Ortiz, Hector Sandoval and Ulka Sasaki but hasn't faced anyone of the calibre of the champion or even Benavidez or Dodson.

He does, however, hold a submission win over McGregor's striking coach, Owen Roddy, from their Cage Warrior days in 2012.

Elsewhere on the card, Rose Namajunas takes on Michelle Waterson in a top contender bout in the women's strawweight division while Jacare Souza faces off against Robert Whittaker at middleweight.
