Ireland's new Olympics silver medalists Gary and Paul Donovan are aiming for more success after today's rowing success.

The Skibbereen pair put in a sterling performance to finish second in the men's double sculls to give Ireland its first medals of Rio 2016.

After the race, Newstalk's Richie McCormack caught up with the duo who were naturally over the moon.

"We're delighted. We're Ireland's first ever Olympics medalists in rowing. We tried to win the gold medal and we really gave it everything out there. But we're delighted to come home with any medal at all and a silver one is fantastic," said Gary O'Donovan.

"It's been a great year - European champions and Olympic silver medalists and hopefully there is more to come in the future."
