Former Everton and Manchester United manager David Moyes has stated that he is ready to return to management.

In his first TV interview since being sacked by Manchester United towards the end of last season, the Scotsman told the BBC that he hopes to make a return soon.

"I’m ready to return. As I said, I’ve enjoyed the time off. But I’ve got to wait on the right job, I’ve got to get the one that I want. I’m really ambitious," he said.

Moyes also spoke about the circumstances which led to his dismissal at Old Trafford, hinting at disappointment at the way the decision was made.

"I got the job at United and expected it to be a six year plan, I got a six year contract. It was really difficult when I lost the job initially because I didn’t really see it coming, even though I had been losing games and I knew it would be difficult but I thought I joined a club that stood by their managers in difficult times."
