Former darts champion Richie Burnett has been banned from the sport for 18 months after testing positive for cocaine.

It relates to an in-competition test last November, and the back-dated suspension for the 1995 BDO World Champion will last until May 2nd 2016. Burnett also had an appeal dismissed.

"All athletes adhere to the principle of strict liability. No matter what the circumstances, they are solely responsible for any prohibited substance found in their system," said Graham Arthur of UK Anti-doping.
