Darren Clarke captained a 12-man Europe squad to an emphatic win over Asia in the EurAsia Cup this weekend.

Europe overpowered their opponents and reduced them to just 2 1/2 points out of a possible 12 today Sunday with Danny Willett's win over South Korea's An Byeong-hun proving significant in handing Europe a 13-3 lead with eight matches to go on the final day.

Speaking after the tournament, a delighted Clarke said that he was delighted with the result as he now switches focus to the Ryder Cup this September.

“The team have played fantastic this week. There have been a lot of positives this week. I’ve learnt a few things, and hopefully I’ll do a better job come September. But if the players don’t play and don’t perform, you can be the best captain in the world and you’re not going to win.”

Europe began the day with a 9-3 after winning 4 1/2 points across Friday and Saturday's run of action. They continued that dominance in the singles with Ian Poulter who trumped Malaysia's Danny Chia 4&3.

But there were some loses for the Europe team.

Ireland's Shane Lowry unfortunately shipped a defeat to Indian's Anirban Lahiri 2&1 while Kim Kyung-tae triumphed over Austria's Bernd Wiesberger 3&2.

Lee Westwood, who contributed to Europe's win with a victory over Thailand’s Thongchai Jaidee, praised his teammates and said that the win will prove beneficial when they go to the Ryder Cup.

“There’s young lads on this team and ones that are going to be playing in the Ryder Cup obviously later on in the year. This is going to be a great experience for them, just feeding them into team golf gradually. And I’m sure they will benefit from this week. Nothing but positives to come out.”
