Danny Cipriani has left Gloucester with immediate effect, while the Premiership side have confirmed that Glasgow's Adam Hastings will join as his replacement.

The announcements come of major interest to Munster fans, creating a definite hole in Glasgow's outhalf ranks for next season.

In recent weeks it has been revealed that the Scottish side have approached Munster academy star Ben Healy about joining Scotstoun, with the 21-year-old believed to be Scottish-qualified.

Healy is coming to the end of his academy contract, but cannot negotiate with Munster until the new year as the IRFU maps out their financial plans.

Healy made an impactful appearance off the bench in Munster's Heineken Champions Cup opener against Harlequins at Thomond Park, but is doubtful for this Saturday's meeting with Clermont in France due to a rib injury.

Danny Cipriani leaves Gloucester as Adam Hastings arrives at Kingsholm

News of Danny Cipriani's departure first broke this afternoon, with the 33-year-old former England international ending his two and a half year spell with the cherry-and-whites.

"After much deliberation I have decided to leave Gloucester with the love, support and blessing of my coach and friend George Skivington. Whilst I’m sad to be leaving such a great club I know the club is in safe hands for the future under George’s leadership.

"I’m excited for the challenges I have ahead. I am so proud of what we have built together, and I have enjoyed working with everyone," he said

Cipriani's last game for the club came during their defeat to Leicester Tigers on the opening day of the new Premiership season last month, with the player's future at Kingsholm having been uncertain for some time.

Following Cipriani's announcement, the club confirmed the signing of Hastings, who will arrive at Kingsholm next season.

"We are really pleased to welcome Adam to Gloucester for next season. He’s matured as a player impeccably over the last couple of years and developed into a top international fly-half. The most exciting part for us is that he’s still got plenty of room for development as well.

"He’s now built up a considerable amount of domestic and international experience which will prove invaluable to the squad.

"With Adam, Lloyd [Evans], and George [Barton] coming through as well, it’s an area in our squad that we believe has a huge amount of promise in the immediate, but also long-term future," Skivington said.
