In the end, a 4 - 2 aggregate defeat to Bayern Munich wasn't the worst result in the world, especially given the real fear of Manchester United fans when the quarter-final draw was made.

To review the 3 - 1 second leg defeat in Munich, we were joined by Daniel Harris of The Guardian who had some interesting comments about the relationship between Wayne Rooney and manager David Moyes.

"The changes today were bizarre. Rooney did not appear to be fit to play the whole game despite missing two or three of the best opportunities United created and you've got quite a lot of options on the bench. Yet Rooney's still there," said Harris.

"And even towards the end when Man United needed two goals, he took Darren Fletcher off, but Rooney was still there playing in Fletcher's position. It makes you wonder what the relationship is between Moyes and Rooney and who's managing who."

While Harris believes United have the bones of a decent team - the midfield excluded - but questioned whether Moyes will be entrusted with the rebuilding job.
