Cycling Ireland will hold an Emergency General Meeting in Dublin today that is likely to have repercussions right across the world of cycling.
The board of Cycling Ireland have been forced to call the meeting in order to allow club delegates to decide whether or not to nominate Pat McQuaid for a third term as president of world governing body, the UCI.
Mr McQuaid is seeking the backing of his home union but his candidacy is coming under criticism as a result of the fall-out from the Lance Armstrong doping scandal.
