Ireland have won gold at the Pentathlon World Cup 4 event in Poland.

The tandem of Natalya Coyle and Arthur Lanigan O'Keeffe claimed gold ahead of Germany, with Kazakhstan in third.

Ireland finished top of the pile after claiming 1,436 points, just 14 ahead of their German counterparts. After finishing first in the opening event, fencing, they followed up with a second place result in pool.

The result leaves them in a good position heading into the World Cup final which will take place in Lithuania's capital city, Vilnius between June 22-25.

"Bye bye Demons of Rio, here comes Tokyo 2020!! World Cup 4 CHAMPIONS! Thanks Natalya Coyle for being the best partner," O'Keeffe tweeted this morning.

Coyle added: "We did it!! GOLD!! Can't believe it! Dream team with Arthur Lanigan O'Keeffe."
