Simon Cox might be lining up in tomorrow’s starting eleven against Austria, or he might be sitting on the bench watching Conor Sammon put in a shift. However, even if he has to make do with a spot on the bench he’s been given reason to celebrate today.
The Nottingham Forest striker has won the Mitre Goal of the Year award, for a moment of sublime skill last September. Cox latched onto an excellent ball over the top, before controlling and lobbing the advancing Jack Butland without letting the ball drop.
