Would Carlo Ancelotti be open to filling the vacancy at Manchester United?

Tonight we spoke to European football writer Gabriele Marcotti who said that the Real Madrid manager is enjoying his time in Spain but there could be a faint chance that he could be tempted into a move if everything came crashing down in the closing weeks of the season.

But he added one other caveat.

"Ancelotti, Van Gaal, Guardiola, De Boer...all these guys who have been linked with the United job, all these people have only ever worked with a director of football. There's no such role at Manchester United. You don't even have a strong chief executive who can perform multiple roles like you had with David Gill. I think many people would be wary of wading in there," said Marcotti, who added that Ancelotti is a great admirer of Alex Ferguson.

Marcotti also turned his attentions to the big game in Europe and felt that Real Madrid deserved their 1 - 0 victory over Bayern Munich.

He also noted that Pep Guardiola's Bayern are slower in terms of their build up and less powerful physically than the team that reached last season's Champions League final.

Marcotti analysed the change of game-plan that was made by Pep during the second half and Ancelotti's tactic to defeat Bayern.
