Katie Taylor's blockbuster fight with Amanda Serrano is set to be postponed because of the coronavirus pandemic.

The undisputed lightweight world champion is due to face the former seven-weight champion Serrano on May 2 at the Manchester Arena.

That fight shares a card with Dillian Whyte's heavyweight title clash with Alexander Povetkin.

Hearn conceded last week that they had contingencies in place for his May cards, which could see them moved to June.

Confirmation of their postponement is now imminent, however, "We'll make an announcement on Monday about Dillian Whyte, the Cardiff show in May [9] and Chisora-Usyk - May 23", Hearn said during an Instagram Live Q&A.

He says promoters - like everyone else - remain at the mercy of COVID-19 with its peak still believed to be weeks away, "We don't know how long this is going to last.

"The earliest boxing is going to start again is June. The earliest, in my opinion so that's why the shows in May we have to look at and come up with alternative dates."

Hearn previously floated the notion that the bouts could take place behind closed doors, but when asked today about the timeframe for a re-arranging of the Taylor/Whyte card, Hearn responded "We'll make an announcement for that on Monday but we will have a new date for that - more than likely. Tickets will still be valid."

Tickets still being valid suggests the card will go ahead in front of a crowd and once again in Manchester.

The colourful promoter also feels the global shutdown with chum the waters of boxers looking to step up, "I think this is going to cause a lot of bigger fights to happen quicker because people are going to be inactive by the time they fight again and people are going to want to jockey for position and jump into big fights quicker."
