The art of telling sports stories in visual ways is the focus on today’s Saturday Panel. Off the Ball welcome three of Ireland’s best most experienced photographers and documentary makers into the studio to discuss their work and their memories from decades of documenting Irish sport history.

Cormac Hargaden is the IFTA winning producer of The Rod Squad, Pride of the Parish and The Sound of Sunday. With a litany of credits on some of Ireland’s best sports documentaries Hargaden is one of the most experienced documentary producers working in Ireland today.

Ray McManus is the founder of SportsFile, the Dublin based photo agency that covers Ireland’s major sporting events, as well as being one of Ireland’s best sports photographers. A career highlight for McManus came in 2012 when when his photo ‘Scrum Half’ won the second prize sports singles at the World Press Photo contest. The contest if the world’s most prestigious annual photojournalism competition and the win signaled major international recognition for McManus’s work.

Lorraine O’Sullivan is a senior photographer at Irish photo agency Inpho having worked with Inpho since 1991 has covered all of the major events in the past two decades of Irish sport. Her work is perhaps best known for her iconic image of Roy Keane and Mick McCarthy in the aftermath of Ireland’s famous 1-0 win over Holland at Lansdowne Road in 2001 (above).
