CM Punk's MMA debut lasted less than three minutes, in September.

The former WWE Champion lost to Mickey Gall at UFC 203, and spent the majority of the fight in a defensive mode, after Gall took advantage in the opening moments of the fight.

After the heavy loss, UFC President Dana White admitted that he didn't think the Chicago native should fight again in the organisation.

"He probably shouldn't have his next fight in the UFC," he told Fight Network."Just like I said with Brock [Lesnar], having your first fight in the UFC is tough.

"You see it again tonight even if it's against a guy who's 2-0. This is a tough place to learn."

Speaking to Ariel Helwani on Monday's The MMA Hour, Punk revealed, he expects to fight once more in the UFC, after holding discussions with White in recent weeks.

"Until anything is official, I don't want to say either way what he's thinking or what he's thinking. But yeah, I'm pretty confident that it'll be in the UFC."

Punk, whose real name is Phil Brooks hopes he can get back into the octagon early next year.
