Manchester City have moved into second place in the Premier League table, after a 4-1 win over Southampton in the opening Barclay's Premier League game of the day.

A Yaya Toure penalty set City on their way inside 3 minutes at the Etihad Stadium.

Southampton equalised with a penalty of their own, which Rickie Lambert converted.

City then scored twice in first half injury time, through Samir Nasri and Edin Dzeko, to give them a comfortable lead.

And Stevan Jovetic sealed the win for City, to leave them just a point behind table toppers Liverpool with a game in hand.
