It's the most wonderful time of the year! Well technically it is but we all know that it can get more than a little stressful trying to plan your TV schedule over the next few days.

First of all, we would probably suggest utilising your recording features to the full potential as there are quite a few shows on at the same time that are definitely worth a watch.

Here are some of the best TV picks for Christmas Eve.

1. Wall-E, BBC1, 11am

Christmas just wouldn't be complete without a Pixar classic and even though the wonderful Toy Story 3 will be on later this evening, this is just one of the best Pixar films around. Wall-E tells the story of a robot left on Earth to clean up after the entire human race has departed the planet. Everything changes when he meets Eva...

2. Carols from Kilkenny Castle, RTÉ One, 6.15pm

Christmas wouldn't exactly be complete without some lovely carols to kick off the Christmas season. Mary Kennedy presents what will surely be a wonderful evening of Christmas carols and singing from the wonderful 12th-century Kilkenny Castle.

3. Skyfall, UTV, 8pm

You may have a conflict of interests here over what exactly to watch at this time on Christmas Eve but we can assure you, Blonde Bond is definitely worth it. Starring Daniel Craig, this is perhaps one of the most personal stories for 007 as tries to protect a number of agents who are exposed around the world. Judi Dench is spectacular, it looks beautiful and the the action is spellbinding. One of the best Bond films out there.

4. Avengers Assemble - RTÉ One, 8.40pm

The greatest decision Marvel studios made was hiring Joss Whedon to take on the monumental task of uniting the best of the superheroes in the universe. A great script, a brilliant cast and just some really good fun really separated this from the dark tone of the DC world.

5. The Mario Rosenstock Christmas Special, RTÉ2, 10pm.

There really is no one like Mario Rosenstock for impressions in Ireland. Joan Burton will never be quite the same again since he took her off. Following a sell-out Irish tour, Mario will help you get in the Christmas spirit with this festive special. Joining his usual portrayals, he will also debut some new impressions like Bono and Mary Lou McDonald. This will most certainly be worth a watch.
