It's the most wonderful time of the year! Well technically it is but we all know that it can get more than a little stressful trying to plan your TV schedule over the next few days.

First of all, we would probably suggest utilising your recording features to the full potential as there are quite a few shows on at the same time that are definitely worth a watch.

Here are some of the best TV picks for Christmas Day.

1. Frozen at Christmas - Channel 4, 8pm.

An in-depth look at the huge success of Frozen, the most successful animated film of all time. The programme hears from the makers of the film about how they put everything together and recorded those amazing songs. This is really one for the fans... and maybe those parents that had to listen to Let It Go over and over again.

2. The Zoo, - RTÉ One, 9pm.

In a festive edition of the documentary series, keepers at Dublin Zoo enjoy a day out at an ice rink and reflect on their year taking care of the animals, including new arrivals such as the saki monkeys and rhino calves.

Cuddly animals on Christmas Day? Sure, why not?

3. Downton Abbey Christmas Special - UTV, 9pm

Bates attempts to clear Anna's name while the family celebrate Christmas at Northumberland. This is always a good programme to watch on Christmas Day and this year the producers have promised it won't be filled with misery.

It's the early autumn of 1924 and Rose's father-in-law Lord Sinderby has rented Brancaster Castle in Northumberland and invited the Crawleys to a grouse-shooting party. However, the Sinderbys' butler Stowell (guest star Alun Armstrong, New Tricks) has an axe to grind and a scandalous secret threatens to derail the holiday.

Back at Downton, the servants hold the fort and unlikely later-life romances abound, while Bates takes drastic measures to clear Anna's name as she faces an uncertain future behind bars.

4. Eastenders Christmas Special - BBC1, 9pm

It's the moment we've been waiting a long time for... Will Linda tell Mick everything that happened between her and Dean?

Christmas Day gets off to a great start for the Carters, with Mick getting a special present from Linda and Stan transforming the barrel store into a winter wonderland for Cora. But this is Albert Square. And nothing ever goes to plan.

5. Argo - RTÉ One, 10.40pm

Ben Affleck's Oscar winning film is definitely the one you need to check out on Christmas Day, despite the fact that it is not one bit Christmassy.

Six Americans escape the seizure of the embassy in Tehran as the 1979 Iranian revolution erupts, but remain fugitives within the country. A CIA operative creates a plan to start a fake movie in order to get into the country and get the Americans out.
