Chris Forrester has been scoring spectacular goals in the League of Ireland for some time now, and last night added another to his portfolio with this beautiful strike from 25 yards out in St. Patrick’s Athletic’s 4-2 win over Bray Wanderers. A deft sidestep was followed by an inch perfect shot that ricocheted off the crossbar and bounced just beyond the line to draw Pat’s level with Bray after 37 minutes.

Wanderers had taken the lead Jake Kelly scored a penalty that came from a Ken Oman foul on David Cassidy. Oman was sent off for the challenge, leaving Pat’s with a mountain to climb. The Saints scored three goals in just 9 minutes in the second half, with Keith Fahey scoring on 53 minutes, Conan Byrne scoring just seconds later and then adding the fourth on 62 minutes. Bray got one back late on with an Adam Hanlon header.

The win keeps Pat’s in the hunt for second spot, with Cork City just 2 points ahead but with a game in hand. The saints are eight points off league leaders Dundalk and barring a collapse from the Oriel Park outfit look set to surrender their crown as League of Ireland champions.
