Chloe Magee has began her third Olympic campaign with defeat in the Women' Badminton Singles.

The 27-year-old lost in straight set to Chinese world number two Yihan Wang. The game finished 21-7 21-12.

Magee, who competed in both Beijing and London, struggled to cope with Wang's pace throughout the match. The Chinese player is among the favourites to win a medal in Brazil.

Wang was a silver medallist in London, and is a former World Champion. In 2011, she won the gold medal in London.

Magee returns to action in the early hours of Saturday morning, when she meets Germany's Karin Schnaase.

In the men's tournament, Scott Evans begins his competition on Friday against a German opponent.
