Liverpool’s gallop to the Premier League title suffered its first setback in recent months at Anfield this afternoon, and one that could prove impossible to recover from.

Willian and Demba Ba scored a goal apiece as Chelsea were 2-0 winners, with a defensively disciplined performance capped off with 2 breakaway goals that undid Liverpool.

Steven Gerrard slipped while in possession shortly before half-time, allowing Demba Ba to steal the ball and advance on Simon Mignolet’s goal unimpeded.

A relentless onslaught from the home side proved fruitless as Chelsea batted away everything Liverpool could muster.

Willian set Fernando Torres through on goal in stoppage time at the end of the game and the Spaniard returned the ball while bearing down on Mignolet, allowing Willian to walk the ball home and send Jose Mourinho sprinting along the touchline to the Chelsea fans.

Liverpool remain top of the league but are now just 6 points ahead of Manchester City with 2 extra games played and an inferior goal difference. Chelsea have closed the gap on Liverpool to 2 points.
