Stoke's Charlie Adam has been charged with violent conduct for his stamp on Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud on Saturday.

Stoke say they will appeal against the charges.

It is not the first time that Adam has courted controversy for some of his challenges.

He has damaged Gareth Bale's ankle ligaments on two occasions and earlier this season, the former Liverpool midfielder injured Tottenham's Paulinho.
