Celtic's hopes of qualifying for the knockout stages of the Champions League are hanging by a thread after last night's 2-1 loss to Molde in Celtic Park.

The Scottish champions lie at the foot of the table in Group A with no wins in their opening four games. Molde head the standings on ten points, followed by Fenerbache on five points with Ajax on three and Celtic a point further behind.

Despite losing 2-1, Celtic had two disallowed goals in the opening twelve minutes from Nir Bitton and Leigh Griffiths. Both goals were ruled out due to offsides.

The Norwegian side took the lead on 21 minutes courtesy of an excellent shot from Mohamed Elyounoussi.

Celtic equalised through Kris Commons five minutes later but Ronny Deila's side were unable to hold out. Molde's Daniel Hestad scored the winner in the 37th minute and that was was enough to see the side qualify for the knockout stages. Hestad's goal wrote his name into the Europa League history books as the competition's oldest ever goalscorer at 40 years and 99 days.
